Ashtakoot is the traditional Vedic compatibility scoring system across 8 koots (Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, Nadi), totalling 36 points. 18+ is considered acceptable for marriage in classical Jyotisha; 21+ is considered strong; 28+ is excellent.
